Violinist Christopher Herz is an internationally recognized soloist and chamber musician, performing solo and chamber recitals regularly across the world in Japan, Switzerland, and New York City. He has completed his master’s degree at the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Professors Itamar Zorman and Robin Scott, as well received the Arts Leadership Program Certificate from Eastman’s Institute for Music Leadership. Mr. Herz also served as Teaching Assistant to Professor Zorman’s studio. He received his Bachelor of Music with High Distinction from the Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music, studying under Mark Kaplan.
Mr. Herz enjoys collaborating with fellow musicians on a wide range of repertoire. During his time at the New Music on the Point Festival, he performed with the Grammy Award Winning JACK Quartet on works by John Luther Adams. At the Eastman School he has collaborated with, premiered works for, and served as concertmaster for the Bach Cantata Project, Musica Nova, Eastman Repertory Singers, Beal Institute Film Project, and OSSIA ensembles.
Community outreach is a crucial element to performing classical music for Mr. Herz. He currently serves as assistant instructor for the Eastman Community Music School “Pathways” program, which works to teach students from inner Rochester. He has also served as Audience Experience Manager Society for Chamber Music in Rochester.
Mr. Herz teaches students from beginners to advanced students and is able to teach via Zoom or travel to a student’s home.
