Christophe Koenig grew up in East Aurora, NY and began playing the violin at the age of 4 under the tutelage of Amy Glidden, Associate Concertmaster of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2008, he became a part of his first orchestra, the Greater Buffalo Youth String Orchestra, a division of the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra which he joined in 2012. In 2014, he became concertmaster of his youth orchestra, a position he held until his graduation in 2017. In 2017, Christophe appeared on the NPR radio show “From the Top” during their live show in Buffalo (#333). Christophe began attending the Eastman School of Music in 2017 and has performed as concertmaster with the Eastman School Symphony orchestra there. Christophe has attended many festivals including the Castleman Quartet Program, Interlochen Arts camp, the National Orchestral Institute, and the National Repertory Orchestra. Christophe is a big proponent of community outreach, performing in many retirement homes, BPO gala pre-concerts, and elementary and middle schools throughout the WNY area. Christophe currently studies with Juliana Athayde, Concertmaster of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and plays on an H.C. Silvestre violin from 1889.
Christophe teaches from his home in Rochester, will travel to a students home or can teach via Zoom.
